She was a member of Conners Baptist Church in Cobbtown and was preceded in death by her husband, M.J. She will mostly be remembered for her cooking abilities and the love of feeding people. She was born in Montgomery County and lived in Toombs County for 35 years before moving to Reidsville 52 years ago. Deacon Jenkins joined Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and he became a Deacon in 1977 under the leadership of the Rev. He was the owner of Jenkins Barber Shop for many years. He was also employed by the Tattnall County Board of Education. He was employed with the Department of Transportation for 28 years until he retired in May 2009. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Sister Victoria Hines on September 4, 1965, in Glennville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Oscar Jenkins Sr., and Ethel Dukes Jenkins Alston. He departed his life on August 2, 2009, at 5:25 p.m., at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Center in Statesboro, GA.
